Dr Jichun (Jess) Hao - Registrar

Jichun (Jess) Hao is an empathic and warm psychologist whose practice is based on research evidence. Taking a client-centred approach, she meets her clients at where they are and works collaboratively with them to help release distress, solve problems, reach potentials, and achieve goals. She has worked in community, hospital, and private settings with individuals and families. She has worked with different presentations including depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, anger issues, cultural adjustment issues, grief and loss, couples conflict, stress associated with COVID-19, work stress, autism spectrum disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder among others. Jess is passionate about helping people from different cultural groups and practices in English and Chinese.

I endeavour to hear my client’s pain, understand what has happened for them, and empower them to reach their goals.

Jess loves music, art, nature, and spending time with friends and family.

She completed a Bachelor of Science (Psychology with honours) from the Australian National University, a Master of Science (Counselling Studies) from the University of Edinburgh, a Doctor of Philosophy (Psychology-Science) from the University of Newcastle and a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Technology Sydney.

Jess has volunteered and worked in different settings in China, United Kingdom, and Australia, in settings ranging from hospitals, to non-profit organisations, to private practises. She has experience practicing several therapy modalities including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Mindfulness integrated Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (MiCBT).

Jess is registered as a Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) and an associate member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

What is a Registrar?

A Registrar is a Psychologist who has completed 6 years of university training and 2 years practical experience. Subsequent to this each Registrar has to have a supervisor for 2 years in order to become a fully registered Clinical Psychologist. Jess is taking these 2 years at Equilibrium.

She will charge $175 - Weekdays 9am - 5pm & $190 Monday to Friday, before 9am, after 5pm or on Saturdays. A Medicare rebate of $87.45 will apply with a Mental Health Care Plan from your GP.

Availability

Jess is available Mondays and Tuesdays including After Hours and Online Sessions.
