Russell is a friendly, approachable, and highly experienced psychologist who enjoys helping clients to improve their lives. Russell is an integrative psychologist who blends a variety of evidence-based approaches to best suit the client’s needs and goals. Russell has been a psychologist since 2005 and has worked in a variety of hospitals, non-government organisations, private organisations, and private practice.
Russell is experienced in grief/bereavement counselling, substance use issues, depression, anxiety, stress, perinatal mental health, relationship counselling, helping clients with better ways to communicate/manage conflict, counselling for infertility/sterility issues or clients who are going through fertility treatments, trauma, and working with clients from the LBGTIQA+ community.

Get to know Russell
Russell enjoys time in nature and swimming in salt water either in Sydney harbour or at an ocean beach. Russell enjoys spending time with friends and family at a café, restaurant, cinema, theatre, musical theatre, or simply going on a walk. Russell also finds meditation, scented candles, having a massage, or reading a good book very helpful for maintaining equilibrium. Planning the next overseas holiday brings excitement and joy.
Russell has been a psychologist since 2005 and has worked in the following areas: drug and alcohol counselling (St. Vincent’s Hospital and Royal North Shore Hospital); bereavement counselling (Greenwich Hospital, the Northern Beaches Palliative Care Service and IVFAustralia); fertility counselling (IVFAustralia); relationship counselling (Relationships Australia, IVFAustralia), mental health (Macquarie University and McKesson Asia Pacific), perinatal mental health (Gidget House); LGBTIQA+ (Twenty10); cancer counselling (The Cancer Council of NSW) and private practice.
Russell uses an integrative approach that includes Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness, and compassion-based approaches.
Russell has completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Queensland, a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychology from Macquarie University, A Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Practice from the Australian College of Applied Psychology, a Master of Nursing from the University of Sydney, and a Master of Clinical Psychology (with distinction) from Charles Sturt University. Russell is registered as a Psychologist with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency)
Availability
Russell is available Tuesdays and Wednesdays including after hours and online sessions.
